SSOJ/MAF Vision Trip
Congo
Sowing Seeds of Joy is joining Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in taking a one-week vision trip to the Dem Republic of the Congo. Our objective is to see and experience the ministry of MAF. Sowing Seeds of Joy partnering with MAF and assist them in recruiting African Americans and people of color to become future pilots, mechanics, teachers, and computer technicians and serve in locations such as the Congo.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is the second largest country in Africa by land size and the fourth most populous. MAF has served in this massive country—roughly half the size of the eastern US—since 1961, when the country was Zaïre.

The DRC consistently ranks near the bottom of the UN’s ranking for health, education, and development. The average life expectancy is 59 years, and the majority of the people only receive around six years of education. There are still many in this country who have never heard the gospel and the young Congolese churches are still finding their footing and identity.

Because of you, MAF can provide vital aviation and communications services to Congolese churches, Christian missions, and non-government organizations (NGOs) ministering in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

MAF missionary families, with the help of over 50 Congolese staff members, fly and maintain seven aircraft serving in the DRC. MAF is committed to supporting ministries of healing, reconciliation, and Biblical community development, as well as Congolese missionaries who are taking the Gospel to refugees along the country’s northern border. Other mission groups and humanitarian agencies utilize MAF services to help alleviate suffering and allow for health services in remote villages, facilitate Bible translation projects, and bring biblical training to isolated pastors.
