Shish I Can Hear You Talking

Writer's picture: Ron and Star NelsonRon and Star Nelson

Saints. We know that words have meaning, and their meanings can either uplift or tear down. However, sometimes silence speaks louder than words. A look or a glance can make a profound impact or statement in someone's life. This proverb highlights several benefits of keeping quiet: (1) It is the best policy if you have nothing worthwhile to say; (2) it allows you the opportunity to listen and learn; and (3) it gives you something in common with those who are wise. Make sure you pause to think and to listen so that when you do speak you will have something positive and informative to say. For the Lord God desires that we be as James 1:19-20 says: "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, [20] because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." Therefore, let your words be enriching and your demeanor be pleasant, so the world may see and experience the joy of God!

The Word of God.

The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.
