Tell Me Where It Hurts

When God Invites You to Be Honest

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

If the Lord looked you in the eyes and gently asked, “Tell Me where it hurts… ”How would you answer?

Would you deflect? Would you choke up? Would you finally say the thing you’ve been carrying in silence for far too long?

God doesn’t ask because He’s unaware. He asks because He cares.

Just like with Hagar in the wilderness (Genesis 16:8), Elijah in the cave (1 Kings 19:9), or the blind man by the road (Mark 10:51), God meets us with questions that invite healing, not shame. He already knows what we’re going through—yet He desires relationship, not routine. He’s not after performance. He wants honesty.

Where Does It Hurt?

If I’m honest...

It hurts in the places I hide from others. It hurts in the disappointments I pretend don’t matter. It hurts in the prayers I stopped praying, the dreams I buried, and the silence I sit in when I feel unseen. It hurts in the memories that still sting and in the hope I’m afraid to hold again.

But here’s the good news: God is not afraid of our pain. He is not intimidated by our questions, our grief, or our wounds.

When we admit where it hurts, we open the door for Him to heal us deeply, not just superficially. Because while people may ask out of curiosity, God asks so He can restore.

The Heart of the Healer

Jesus isn’t a distant physician. He’s the God who puts His hands on the pulse of your pain, not just to monitor it—but to transform it.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

You don’t have to have the perfect words. You just have to be willing to tell Him the truth.

A Simple Prayer:

Lord, You already know, but I need to say it out loud: Here’s where it hurts. Here’s where I’ve been hiding. Here’s the weight I’ve been carrying. Touch the wound. Heal the place. Because I trust You with what hurts. Amen.

Worship While You Heal

Pair this moment with songs that speak to the soul:

  • “Gracefully Broken” – Tasha Cobbs Leonard

  • “Deliver Me (This Is My Exodus)” – Donald Lawrence ft. Le’Andria Johnson“He Knows My Name” – Tasha Cobbs

  • “God Provides” – Tamela Mann

These songs aren’t just background noise—they’re reminders that you’re not alone in this. God is near, and He’s still in the healing business.

Final Thought:

You don’t have to pretend with God. He’s not asking for your filtered version. He’s asking for your real story—the one that still trembles when you tell it.

So, if He whispers today, “Tell Me where it hurts…” Don’t hold back.

That’s where the healing begins.
